Nursing
The Nursing program at »Æ¹Ï¶ÌÊÓƵ combines classroom instruction with supervised clinical experience to develop the knowledge and skills needed for quality patient care. Clinical experiences take place in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and other healthcare environments.
Students can pursue a Practical Nurse (LPN) Certificate or an Associate Degree Nurse (RN) pathway. Both options prepare graduates to continue their nursing careers and meet licensure requirements.
Licensure Information
North Dakota requires graduates of state-approved nursing programs to pass a licensing exam before practicing. Practical Nurse graduates from »Æ¹Ï¶ÌÊÓƵ are eligible for the NCLEX-PN®, while Associate Degree Nurse graduates must pass the NCLEX-RN. RN candidates are also required to meet ATI Comprehensive Predictor standards.
These programs qualify graduates for licensure in North Dakota. Other states may have different requirements. If you plan to complete an LPN Certificate or ADN degree and work outside of North Dakota, review state licensure requirements through the .
Practical Nurse Certificate (LPN)
The Practical Nurse program at »Æ¹Ï¶ÌÊÓƵ is an 11-month program that prepares students to become Licensed Practical Nurses. Students complete classroom instruction and supervised clinical experiences in a variety of healthcare settings.
Locations: Devils Lake, Grand Forks, Mayville, and Jamestown.
Mobility: Scheduled in-person labs and sessions.

Associate Degree Nurse (RN)
The Associate Degree Nurse Program welcomes applications from Licensed Practical Nurses. This 9-month program prepares students to continue their nursing education and advance their careers as Registered Nurses. Admission requirements vary slightly for current Practical Nurse students and external applicants. Completed applications are reviewed by the Admission Committee, and applicants are notified in writing of their status.
Locations: Devils Lake, Grand Forks, and Mayville.
Mobility: Scheduled in-person labs and sessions.
The ADN curriculum prepares students to practice as Registered Nurses through coursework and clinical experiences focused on patient care, critical thinking, and professional nursing skills. Coursework includes adult health, maternal-child, community, and psychosocial nursing. Classroom and clinical experiences prepare students to care for individuals and families across the lifespan.
