Fitness Trainer Technician
The Fitness Trainer Technician program at »Æ¹Ï¶ÌÊÓÆµ combines classroom learning with practical experience to prepare students for careers in fitness and wellness. Students develop the skills needed to work as personal trainers while gaining knowledge in exercise, nutrition, and client support. View the FiTT Fact Sheet.
The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and is offered online and on campus to provide flexibility while preparing students for employment or continued education toward a bachelor's degree.
Program Outcomes
- Promote recreational fitness and health in the community.
- Assess fitness levels and develop, recommend, and monitor client exercise programs.
- Instruct clients in a variety of fitness activities.
- Provide leadership, establish program direction, and maintain professional ethics.
- Apply current nutrition and physical fitness research to support client goals.
- Assist clients effectively through personalized fitness guidance.
- Incorporate nutrition education into fitness plans.
Opportunities
Students in the FiTT program have the best of both worlds. With faculty who are active in the profession, students experience a program that blends classroom theory with real-world application. The final semester of the program allows students to apply their knowledge in a community setting. Students also learn how to develop business and marketing plans for starting a fitness industry business.
Graduates of the Fitness Trainer Technician program can enter the workforce or continue their education at a university in areas such as athletic training, exercise science, or related fields.
